THE
LEBANON
Modest coastal region, Lebanon appears to be amazing dense and
singular in comparison with other regions of the Neareast. Part of
the Fertile Crescent, zone of communication between people, here the
first forms of civilization were found and with this the first signs
of social life, domesticity and writing. The Lebanon shows through
its sites remarkable cultural and historical assets. It is also an
extraordinary rich area in an almost desert region. Its window on
the Mediterranean Sea and its fertile plains irrigated by numerous
small rivers and snow-covered mountains all contribute to its
natural wealth. Other resources of this "Switzerland of the
Orient" are its famous cedar wood- since Antiquity object of
envy- its perfumes, its honey and its wine completing the image of
abundance.
