The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is a fairly young country, but it is steeped in history, like a well-traveled bridge between sea and desert, East and West.

Formerly the Aminite capital of Rabbath-Ammon and later the Greco-Roman city of Philadelphia, Amman has been the capital since 1921. Thus, it has several stories, from various historical eras to uncover.
